5 /5 Don Davidson: Fort Davis National Historical Site in Fort Davis, Texas, preserves the history of a 19th century U.S. Cavalry fort. Some buildings have been reconstructed and furnished, including an enlisted barracks, the Commanding Officers residence, a hospital, and the commissary. Original buildings are little more than foundations, but provide a feel for the forts dimensions. They also have a 14-minute film discussing the forts history, as well as many informative displays. The staff is very knowledgeable.
