1 /5 Karen McCoy: I was a patient there in 2022 and had an awful experience with billing. I am a medical and dental coder/biller and had to physically go in with all EOBs and a spreadsheet detailing how my account should appear. They had not entered payments from my insurance and kept telling me I needed to pay in full (which is in direct violation of their contract, but I paid at the time because they refused treatment if not paid). They also tried to collect for lab fees, which is not allowed to be billed separately. They tried to avoid this by not billing insurance and attempting to collect directly from me. After I spent almost two hours in the office, I was given a check for over $2k that they had fraudulently collected from me. Dr. Nabavi was embarrassed at the staff members attitude and ability and apologized profusely. I left feeling good about her, but that she needed a more educated staff, hoping she was truthful about a new hire who was knowledgeable. Now, two years later and almost 700 miles away, I am receiving a bill stating that I owe. $492.50. No dates, no explanation, just "PLEASE PAY IMMEDIATELY!" I have the feeling that they never removed the erroneous charges and are now thinking might as well try to collect. I have contacted the office in the email thread that I had saved from 2022 and informed that I will be reaching out to the State Board of Dentistry and Attorney Generals office if this is not corrected, but I am adding this review to warn others to always check your EOBs from your insurance. You will never owe more than they say you owe. If you have questions, call them, not the dental office. Whenever you can, get a predetermination from your insurance that specifically states how much they will pay. These things will help you tremendously, especially when unwittingly being involved with an unscrupulous or uneducated office staff.
