Dennis Frantz: There is a beautiful story that more than 100 years ago, a 12-year-old girl, walking in a cotton field near where the little church sits now, saw an apparition of a lady dressed in black who asked the little girl, "why there was no church in this place?β After several more appearances of the lady, the local farmers gave their first cotton crop and donated land and labor to build the sanctuary in six weeks. It is a lovely church, with white clapboard planks and a tall steeple. It is situated in cotton country mixed with pecan trees and pump-jacks, as is common in Texas. Not many would stumble upon this pretty little church, but if you happen to be near College Station or Caldwell, itβs definitely worth a stop.
