Ana Bruja - Khayos: This was a great treat. If you want a low pace attraction for the little ones to enjoy with no line... this is great. They have a playground and an actual short train ride. The staff is all volunteers so please be kind and pick their brains. Some have been supporting the facility for a decade and can provide a lot of history about the museum and San Antonio if you sit down and listen. Worth stopping by. FYI if you are into trains collectibles, some of the volunteers can provide some info about upcoming events.

World’s Largest Cowboy Boots - San Antonio

PixiePerks915: Here’s a If you’re in San Antonio, you can’t miss this quirky roadside attraction! These massive cowboy boots—standing 35 feet tall—are an iconic photo op. We weren’t quite sure where to park for the best view, so we made a quick stop near a loading zone, snapped our pictures, and headed out. Since we visited at night, traffic wasn’t too bad, but I can see how it might get tricky during the day with all the nearby mall activity. A little history for fun: these boots were originally built in Washington, D.C., in 1979 before being relocated to North Star Mall in 1980. Despite their odd origin story, they’ve become a beloved part of San Antonio’s landscape. If you’re into unique roadside stops, this one is definitely worth a quick visit! Pro tip: If you want the best pictures, try going early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid heavy traffic. (Source: Roadside America)

Mark Smith: Interesting history on the Texas White House and LBJs childhood home. Its in two different spots, downtown Johnson city, and outside of town about 14 miles at the ranch(which is at the state park). Both areas were interesting and informative. We took a tour of the childhood home and then did the auto tour of the ranch. The NPS website/app has an audio tour for the ranch drive that was really informative. Support your National Parks!

Tyler Smith: Went today and surprisingly wasn’t overly busy for a holiday weekend. Great place to explore by the falls and kid friendly. The swimming hole was awesome and the water was the perfect temperature to enjoy. Warm enough to stay in indefinitely and cool enough to be refreshing on a hot day. We swam but you could do some short tubing routes.

Michael ONeill: What an awesome experience! I have good friends (literally family to me) visiting my wife and I. I had additional time with my friends two sons, so I looked up science museums, (what kid doesnt like a science museum) and I saw Science Mill as a choice. Great choice I made. Both of the boys really enjoyed Science Mill. So many interactive galleries to check out, a virtual reality that is free, movie theater, outside and inside areas to explore. Science Mill in Johnson City, TX is a wonderful, fun place to check out. Especially if you have children with you. Definitely recommend.

Tiffany Acosta: Cool place to visit. We rented Lucys Den Cabin for a weekend. A bit pricey for what it was. Cabin could use a better coffee pot and more attention to cleanliness. (In cabinets and drawers was a bit of roach/bug feces.) Pool was ok. The tour ride around was awesome though. Tour guide was great and very informative about wildlife. Very cool animals all around. Great for kids.

Kit Rickard: A hidden gem, for sure! We had a nice peaceful camping trip. It was too windy to kayak, but well be back! I love a no wake lake. Lots of wildlife. Good fishing. Caught a lot of blue gill and sunfish, a couple of small bass. Loved the little library and the ranger kit. They loan out fishing gear. If you forgot anything at home, its just a 5 minute drive to Brookshire Brothers and to Ace Hardware, very convenient. Meridian is a really cute town too.
