1 /5 Adam Beiter: Its been over 6 months since I visited Arbor Oaks.
The visit started with a sales consultation. I use a CPAP machine for sleep apnea, so they asked if I was interested in a dental appliance to replace my CPAP.
I told them no, Im happy with my CPAP.
They then spent 25 minutes taking pictures of my jaw to provide me with a quote on the appliance that I told them I wasnt interested in.
They took x-rays and the dentist came in.
He started talking about root canals and crowns.
I came for a cleaning.
They did not clean my teeth.
They quoted me $2,000+ after insurance. I want to say it was significantly more than that but I dont remember the exact number so, to keep my review as factual as possible and avoid exaggeration, Ill say $2000+.
I paid a copay (which was strange because my insurance hasnt changed but the new dentist I went to did not require a copay)
In the quote they included the cleaning for the next visit but for some reason that wouldnt be covered by insurance...
After I left they tried calling me and telling me I still owed them money. I expressed my feelings about the experience and they did remove the extra charge. That was good.
My new dentist looked at my x-rays and said "Wow... you have great roots in there. I doubt they will fall out when you get old"
I thought that was interesting considering Arbor Oaks wanted to give me crowns and root canals...
I questioned the new dentist about this and she showed me the x-rays. She showed me what it would look like if I needed something like that and compared it to my current X-ray to show me I didnt need those things.
Arbor Oaks told me my gums were receding and recommended some treatment options ($$$)
I asked my new dentist how bad my gums were. She said they looked good. A small amount of recession but less than average for someone my age.
She did bring up 2 things that Arbor Oaks told me. I have a cracked filling that needs replacement, 1 small cavity, and an older filling that looks like it is beginning to come loose. She recommended fixing these issues and gave me an estimate of $375.
They then cleaned my teeth and sent me home without any copay...
