Ippodaro Natural Salon - San Antonio belle ortega: The best salon I have ever been to, past salon experiences I had were always loud, crowded, and chaotic, with overall bad vibes, not a good experience. At Ippodaro salon it is such a calming and serene atmosphere, I absolutely love it, I always feel so welcome upon arrival and offered refreshments, everyone is super friendly and inviting, I have always had a good experience here with my stylist Lulu, she is such a warm welcoming person, so easy to conversate with and always thoroughly answers all my questions and that is something I absolutely appreciate, I have always left with a beautiful haircut and style. I feel at Ippodaro they truly care about the health of your hair and providing a relaxing experience, I look forward to my next visit!
Alchemy Salon - San Antonio Tracey Dye: Tanner has been doing my hair for years and is the absolute best! Hes a true expert in his craft and always does an amazing job taking care of me. The atmosphere of the beautiful salon gives off a relaxing vibe and the staff is super friendly and welcoming. I always enjoy my visit and leave feeling like a million bucks! Glory Salon SA - San Antonio Celestina J: After one visit, Im convinced I wont go to anyone else. From the cozy environment to Cruz herself, the experience was a complete pleasure. Cruz knew exactly what to do with my curls when others often struggle. She was very happy to work with me about what I wanted, and to give her advice about how to best care for my curls. My curls have honestly never looked better. I cannot recommend her enough!
Salon Rana - San Antonio Jessalyn Meyer: I recently visited this salon and had the pleasure of working with Leslie, and I couldn’t be happier with the results! I was feeling a little impulsive and wanted bangs but wasn’t quite sure what I wanted, and Leslie made me feel completely at ease and confident in the decision. She really offered great advice on what would suit my face shape, and took her time to ensure the cut was perfect. I’m so glad I trusted Leslie with the change, and I’ll definitely be back for my next haircut. Highly recommend!

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I drove an hour and a half from Austin on my birthday to get a professional looking root touch up with Monika for a big interview that weekend and I left in tears, humiliated, looking like a clown. When I called to show a friend i believe her words were “It looks like you DIY’d yourself for the first time at night on the back of a horse”… Aptly put.
To start Monika made a big deal about asking me to arrive at 7:30am just as the shop was opening so she could finish by 11, but an hour into my drive down I get a call from her saying she’s at a friends place out of the city and will be late! So after I woke up at 5:30 to make the drive down early at her request, I’m left to sit and wait another 30 minutes while she takes her time making her way to work. She finally arrives a bit after 8 and the service begins, yet as time is passing I can see she’s starting to rush. My theory is confirmed when her second client walks in is left waiting OVER AN HOUR sitting in the chair next to me while Monika hurries to finish my hair. She refuses to let me see myself until the end, and when she finally does turn me around i’m given all of 5 seconds to look before I’m rushed out so she can start on the client that had been waiting. (The other clients appt was at 11 and we finished a bit past 12)
The moment I get into the sun I see the disaster that is BRIGHT PATCHY PURPLE ROOTS! I immediately go back to point out I cannot go to an interview looking like this, and she straight up refuses to move anyone around or stay late to fix it saying she’s completely booked for the day. I call the manager Lejan to see if he can assist, HE ALSO REFUSES TO HELP! Won’t call anyone in or do it himself. I ask him if he thinks my hair represents the quality of work his salon offers and he agrees i’m severely over-toned and suggests that I wash my hair 7 OR 8 times to get it looking better! (if you know anything about freshly bleached hair you’ll know this is bad advice, he’s essentially telling me to further sacrifice hair health for a better look) He then tells me there’s special shampoos I can buy to help. I tell him shampoo won’t cut it and i’m going to have to get it fixed at another shop because my interview is the next day and ask if he could work with me on even just a partial refund and he again refuses and HANGS UP ON ME!
So to recap, I was left $165 in the hole having to pay again to get it fixed (as a college student that is A LOT) with embarrassingly bad hair and a terrible tear filled birthday. Needless to say I did not make it to that interview. Back in Austin the stylist I saw to fix it was APPALLED the manager let me walk out like that and refused to stay late to fix it. Completely unprofessional and rude, save your money, hair, and time! Not to mention this was the first i’ve ever had a manager tell me I needed to buy more stuff to fix a mistake their stylist had made! Even writing this now I have to laugh so I don’t cry..
Edit- After reading the owners response I encourage everyone to do the same, consider it, then take a look at my photos again and ask yourself if you were my stylist, would you be comfortable sending me out like that? As an owner, is that how you’d respond?
Given Lejan’s catty reply, if he were in my shoes I certainly don’t think he would’ve been happy with the service and response he received, especially as someone with an intimate understanding of what looks professional/good. In fact, I think he would have been.. say.. angry even, that he now had the added stress and cost of a new problem to fix.
But alas, I’m just some sucker to get one over on then fight details with online. We could go back and forth, but what’s the point. I guess low quality service is within company policy if you can charge before they get a decent look. How naive of me, lesson learned.

After being chemical free for 10 years, I returned to a relaxer. Ms Toni took very good care of me and literally handled me with care. I was beyond pleased with my final look and cut.
