4 /5 A. Martinez: Ive been driving by this place off and on over the last 20-plus years, and for some reason or another, I never stopped here until yesterday. My experience was pretty much as I expected, and judging by the number of people standing in line for this place to open meant to me, the food must be very good, the restaurant is very popular and has a loyal following . Stepping inside this cafeteria style setting gave me an old-school country feel that I have experienced in other small towns throughout the state. It amazes me that these places still exist since some of the other places Ive been to in other towns are being closed & replaced by more modern restaurants offering more things on their menu and cater to a new generation of customers. These establishments exist due to an older generation of loyal followers and a few younger generations of customers eager to explore a new dining experience. Today, I purchased the fish and shrimp with the green beans and cabbage. I also ordered three extra sides. I added mac and cheese as well as a side of stewed okra with sausage and a side of sweet potatoes. I myself, along with the rest of the customers today, just came to pick up food and did not sit in the small dining area of the restaurant to eat. My food was served fresh and warm, so I didnt mind if my food got cold since my plan was to eat it when I got home, which was an hour away. I hope this helps anyone reading my reviews so yall can enjoy your dining experience without the elements of surprise. To be fair, Im only giving a 4-star review to this location due to the fact I have not had the opportunity to try other things on their menu.
