2 /5 Ramona Finos: The long stretch of I 10 in South Texas is so bleak. We were searching for some good Mexican food and thought we found a few places in Fort Stockton, but all were closed on Saturday at lunchtime. So we pushed on another 137 miles to Ozona, where we stopped at Pepe‘s. The exterior is painted in bright, festive colors and that was encouraging. We were greeted promptly with chips and salsa. The chips are homemade so they are hard and the salsa was warm but lacked flavor. Unfortunately, that was the case with the rest of the meal, very bland. And we found the prices to be pretty high for a small town cafe, $15.50 for the beef taco plate, cheese extra.
