3 /5 Courtney Tewary: I’m really happy Gurkhaas opened in Pearland, and I’ve been a repeat customer because the food is usually excellent. I almost always order the lamb chops, chicken tikka masala, daal makhani, and garlic naan, and most of the time it’s a 10/10 experience.
Unfortunately, my most recent visit was disappointing. Instead of the usual fluffy, hot garlic naan, I received naan that tasted and looked like it was made with whole wheat/roti atta. When I called, I was told something was wrong with the flour, which made me wonder why the naan (and even the cheese naan for my child) was sent out in the first place if the issue was noticeable. I was offered a replacement, but I couldn’t come back out since I was already home with my toddler.
Additionally, this is the second time my chicken tikka masala has looked and tasted more like butter chicken, which has been confusing since I order these dishes regularly and know the difference.
I’m sharing this because I genuinely like this restaurant and want to see it stay consistent with the quality it’s known for. I hope this feedback helps improve quality control moving forward. I’ll still give them another try and hope this was just an off day
