5 /5 Larry Kryske: This afternoon my wife and I tried a new Italian restaurant in West Plano, DeEva Kitchen. We were thoroughly delighted! The ambiance is relaxing and beautiful yet also so elegant. DeEva had the most comfortable seats of any restaurant we have ever visited. Now for the food. My wife started with a side salad that came with a delicious, zesty dressing. Her main entree was chicken piccata. My wife is a chicken piccata devotee and said this one was superb! The tender chicken was complimented by a delicious lemon-butter, caper sauce. The sauce also lay below the penne pasta that was light and flavorful not the heavy, chewy pasta you might find elsewhere. I had the cioppino. Im a cioppino connoisseur and the one I make is the best, in my humble opinion. Still, the one I had for lunch today was incredibly savory. While I prefer a tomato based sauce, this one was a seafood-infused clearer broth. and boy did they throw on the seafood! They had clams, shrimp, scallops, and mussels--more than youd find in any cioppino elsewhere in Dallas. The seafood was perfectly cooked, too. My only suggestion to the chef would be less salt in the broth otherwise, what an incredible meal. We arrived early and had no problem getting a seat even on Friday. You can make an Open Table reservation because it can get crowded. There are tables inside both upstairs and down as well as a relaxing and attractive area outside. The outdoors seating would be a wonderful place to dine during those five days a year when the North Texas weather would permit outside dining! There is a beautiful mural or is it a fresco, this is an Italian eatery, just below the ceiling level that is well worth seeing. Lots of angels and horses that would even delight Michelangelo. Eva the owner was charming and welcoming. Plenty of parking outside, too. My wife and I will be back next week to savor some more of their Italian delights. Mmm che buono!
