Cafe Dimona - Fredericksburg (TX)

5 /5 Melissa Ek Taylor: Had a great dinner tonight at Cafe Dimona. Our first time there. Delicious, authentic food, attentive and knowledgeable staff, very cute house turned restaurant. Good sized portions and reasonable prices. Definitely recommend.

5 /5 Tammie Searles: The lamb kebabs were delicious. Also had the battered cauliflower and a special sauce which was amazing and ended lunch with baklava and vanilla ice cream which knocked our socks off. Our server Sachi was super attentive and knowledgeable. Oh the Turkish coffee was authentic.

5 /5 Jenny FR: Must visit in Fredericksburg. This is the most authentic place in the area. The food is delicious. We loved the shukshuka and falafel. Fresh bread with dips and herbal tea from the garden are amazing. Outstanding service and friendly staff.

3 /5 Julia Dunaway: It’s a lovely place that used to be our favorite restaurant, The Nest many years ago. The atmosphere is nice and the new decor is elegant. The menu shortage was a little odd, one menu per table? The server was super nice and helpful with wines. The best food of the night was the pita bread. The sauce sample was interesting and all were flavorful. The shug was not spicy though. When our hummus arrived I was surprised to find it grainy and very bland. I asked for salt and added a liberal amount. It really didn’t help. I make hummus so I’m very familiar with it and I’m not a person who needs excessive flavor. I ordered the charred cauliflower and cabbage and my husband ordered the branzino. My food was barely lukewarm and way too oily. Glistening with oil and not hot is not appealing to me. Everyone was busy and my husband’s fish which takes longer arrived so I didn’t send it back because I didn’t want to wait. His fish was deboned a little but still had lots of fine bones. The accompanying couscous was cold and had no flavor. I really want to love this restaurant because they had some vegan options which are hard to find. I just wish the food was better. The chef came to our table after we paid our bill and saw that I didn’t eat much of my entree. I told him why and he offered to take it off our bill but we said no because we’d already paid. We will come back again next year when we come to Fredericksburg and hopefully have a better experience.
