5 /5 Brian Pond: I loved hitting this gym while in town for a month. It’s not huge but not tiny either, and it was never crowded, but always had a half dozen people or so working out when I’d come. Friendly staff. Very clean. Nice locker rooms, showers. Machines and free weights, pretty much anything you’d want. Good prices. I bought the $10 fob so I can come whenever I want, and it’s linked to my account for next year. Can’t ask for much more!

The atmosphere of a gym really makes or breaks someone’s motivations to come back and I have never felt anything but comfort here (excluding the soreness from a great workout). Staff if always super nice and so are the other members. The equipment is well maintained and the space is always clean. I worked with Patrick for a few months to boost my confidence and he’s a fantastic trainer and an even better person. He helped me boost my confidence and knowledge when it comes to strength training and continues to be a support even though I’m not doing PT anymore. I dread the day I have to find a new gym when I leave the island.

t Ton14: SUPERB!! If you love organized class setting-style workouts - this is the place!! Very, very clean and secure. The instructors and the owner are phenomenal. I’ve never had any issues and they have all been kind and welcoming. I’m new to the area and am so happy to have found this place!

McGuire-Dent Recreation Center - Galveston

Chris Young: More than just a gym it’s a community center. I love that there are so many wonderful events and great classes to take. McGuire Debt recreation center has become my home away from my happy place and my stress relief. I’ve taken the yoga class on Monday nights and the HIIT class on Wednesday nights. Both are excellent and so are the instructors. For less than $40 a year you can have access to one of the nicest gyms on the island and free fitness classes. This is a no-brainer. The staff are excellent and the facility is very clean.

Carlos Huerta: Pull up bars, dip stations, push-up stations. Box jump and agility courses. Couldnt ask for anything more. Perfect outdoor workout spot. Next door to the skatepark.

Tristan Munoz: Joel and Josh are amazing coaches. They care about everyone and coach anyone ay any level. Not only is the mma class amazing but the gym equipment is also top notch. Erin the owner is also super nice and caring. Great gym!!

Mea Mea: The billing services suck, literally comes across as theft. Every time I would try to cancel, the manager was never there miraculously. Every time you try to talk to someone about it, theres nothing they could oorrrr they are never thereee. At this point I really think that you should weigh your options before you go to any of these planet fitnesses. They literally only care about the money. They dont care about you You can be in the hospital for 5 months and guess what theyre still drafting their money not even thinking about your account.. Yes its clean yes its a nice facility Ill give you that. But the fact that you cant get anywhere as far as billing goes is ridiculous. Everything is talk to the manager and talk to the manager. The managers not there. News flash You cannot get in touch with a manager at your location because theyre not ever there. Its literally coming across as theft. By the way if you canceled it has to process. So youll be subject to being charged while it processed. oh no you wont get that back by the way while this processing. Also if you think a refund will happen it wont even. They literally will not..they will just let you use the facility. Why would I when you guys took my money and I dont even workout there...Just thought Id let you know..

UTMB Alumni Field House - Galveston

Tewfeek: I’ve been coming here for 8 years. What the field house lacks in luster, it picks up in character. Amazing basketball court where dreams are made and broken. Good place to whoop on some local Galvestonians, or make a few med students regret their life decisions. Good mix of competition. Some unorthodox hoopers call this gym their home. Well maintained court, especially compared to the limited indoor options in the area. I don’t know what I would have done without this place during my time in Galveston. Front staff is friendly and accommodating. Will be coming back.

Lowry Fitness Center - Texas City

Christina Vickers: I love love love this place . I work out at least 5 times a week . First of all the price is $ 125 a year for an adult who lives in texas city. Seniors who live in Texas City only $ 60 a year . The classes are amazing with great teachers . The Lowery Center has everything from treadmills to weights. It has a ratchet ball room and a swimming pool that has classes . You can also just swim . The people who work there are super helpful.
