What Clients Are Saying about Planet Fitness (on GG)
5 /5 Stephen M: Super clean and open gym. One of the nicest PF Ive been to.
5 /5 Jason: Clean and well maintained gym: the machines were all in good order, and the showers were in fine shape too, with plenty of hot water.
1 /5 farhan faiz ali: Horrible customer service. They charged me the wrong amount multiple times, then lied saying there’s no record. Manager is never there to solve problems. Totally unprofessional and not worth your time or money. Don’t join here!
Vanessa Nguyen: This review will be alittle lengthy. Hopefully well informative.
Background:
I tore my ACL & meniscus in college after competing in sports. I’ve played sports all my life and always been well active.
Once I got my surgery, I thought I would be fixed and be able to be my “normal” self, then of course COVID. So my motivation to get back, went down and I gain that unhealthy weight.
I tried my best to get back to a healthy weight,
i’ve tried lifetime and their top membership with those special classes, cyclebar, hotworx’s, yoga, pilates and just plain at home workouts.
(i’ll explain at the end on why those things don’t personally work for me)
Do I recommend orange theory?
Yes, if you like competitive UPBEAT atmosphere and something other than straight cardio all the time
Is it a long term for me?
No, I think it’s a great way for me to get back into the sports and running I crave 6 years ago.
All age friendly? All body types?
YES. I say that because i am on the younger side and I have people my parents and grandparents age kicking my ass!!! LOVE TO SEE IT. When I first started which was in September I already lost 15lbs…. And I only go 8 classes a month … did I adjust my diet… no maybe not how i’m supposed to….. I definitely watch my portions because I can definitely finish a plate and ask what’s for dessert..
ANYWAYS I hope this gives you a sign if you are looking to get back into it. this place is definitely a good starter.
If you can’t stand club or pop music maybe not for you…..Coaches are probably set with a RPM music to play so they are very limited..
I hate lifting weights because I can’t lift especially because I have never recover from my knee (I didn’t go to PT) But the coaches will correct and help you challenge your self and adjust your work outs!
FAVORITE COACHES:
Jenn, Shameer, Mendy, James & Uche
why 4 stars and not 5?
Nothing wrong with boutique franchises.
I use to work at one so I know they are set with their rules WHICH EVERYONE SHOULD READ.
I believe this is private owned so I feel like the missed class or last minute cancellation or cancelling membership should be up to the owner
Highlight their rules:
after 5 minutes class start they won’t let you in… and they might cancel or no show which CHARGES YOUR ACCOUNT
cancelling your classes 8 hours after they will use your class and if you have that monthly membership that’s $40 a class which… in this economy is crazy… WHICH AGAIN MANAGER OR OWNER SHOULD REACH OUT.
cancelling your membership they charge you for one more month…. I think.
Oh those bands that are 132 is crazy but i love it. Just don’t leave yours on the charger or you can never use it again. These bands are dramatic and die on you if you charge them over 30mins.
Why these workout places didn’t work for me:
Lifetime - I obviously tried cheaper gyms as well but I wasn’t consistent enough to wake up or want to go to the gym nor did I know how to create a work out
If I went with a partner I would chit chat or talk them out of it…
Cyclebar- LOVE IT, especially if you have weak knees! Just my butt suffer cause of those seats iykyk… Also toning certain things are a little limited. Also closes one to me is a solid 15 minutes if I drive the Houston way.
Hotworx- It’s at your pace in the heat … Lol I would go and just lay there because I had no one keeping me accountable. Plus in Houston you don’t need to pay for the heat.
Pilates- I WOULD LOVE TO BE A PILATES PRINCESS. but in this economy…. hard pass.
Love pilates if you can afford do it! It challenges all your muscles and makes your body shake
I heard BARRE is next best thing! Maybe next on my list!
At home work out- I thought having gym stuff at home even the yoga and at home pilates stuff would motivate me… HARD NO i would see my bed or couch…
Well I hope this helps and motivates you to get back into it!!
Front desk, I’m so sorry I don’t know your names but thank you for always knowing mine when I am rushing in to join the class! Love the girl who first signed me up!!
Luisa Fernanda Bonilla RamĂrez: One of the best LA Fitness I’ve been to in the Houston Area. They have Olympic racks, a great variety of machines in very good condition. The place is clean, I have been there twice and I haven’t seen it get too crowded. There is a Smoothie King inside the gym, the pool is open and functional, and I say this despite it sounding obvious because I go to another LA Fitness and the pool has been out for almost a year and a half or two years… Amazing gym overall.
