1 /5 Dustni lyday: Mr. Hammond was court-appointed to represent my stepson in a criminal case in Hood County, TX. From the start, he pressured him to accept a harsh plea deal of over 4 years without exploring better options. He showed little interest in advocating for his client and appeared inexperienced in criminal law, based on his handling of this case and others we observed in court.
His legal assistant was also unhelpful, filing paperwork at the last minute and being difficult to reach. After a few months of poor representation, we fired Mr. Hammond and hired a local attorney who quickly got the charge reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor and recovered bond money that Mr. Hammond never attempted to get back. The final plea was just 30 days Ultimately, it seemed they just don’t care and are in it only for the money!
I do not recommend Mr. Hammond or his office for any criminal matters. They were unresponsive, ineffective, and seemed uninterested in the outcome.
