K-Leigh My kids went to online school through TOPS for 5th grade and 10th grade during the pandemic/social distancing time. They’re now back in regular public schools and we’re on track/didn’t fall behind in their studies. It’s a great school system and they have a challenging/engaging curriculum. The only thing I think they could improve on is adding more Gifted/Talented meeting times and more activities for those students in elementary. The high school program should add more social activities for kids now that there isn’t as much of a need to practice isolation/social distancing. They may have already done that in the past year. The online high school program prepared my oldest child well for college and his classes that are now somewhat of a hybrid of meeting in class and online / submitting work through an online portal. I’m glad that I enrolled my kids in TOPS.

Anita Greene Run, run, run! Very little direction, unorganized and our home room teacher (although very friendly) provided inaccurate information and as a result, when my daughter transferred back into the public school system, she took two courses for an entire semester and received NO CREDIT. Very poor communication and untimely with getting back to you on questions (unless you are a new enrollment). Ive left multiple messages in an attempt to resolve issues and the only way to get through to a person is to pretend you are a new enrollment. There are much better home school online options out there. An absolute disappointment.

asdf dfgh Pros:
Great Teachers, Amazing Curriculum, Online format does not take away from the ability of students to socialize with each other, No bullying, Students and teachers are respectful of each other. Due dates for assignments are very flexible.
Cons:
Work Load is almost unbearable. There are at least 1 if not more homework for each class every single day. Some of the teachers just cant teach, and its hard to get a hold of teachers fast.

Wajiha Atif ILM Academy is a great school based in Islamic Montessori concepts. The teachers spend one on one time with students and apply self-paced learning Montessori approach. My daughter started kindergarten but with the help and encouragement of teachers she excelled to grade 1 in academics. Now in Grade 1, she’s learning grade 2 Math, English, Science and Social Studies and Islamic Studies + Coding class. The Quran teacher is phenomenal and helped children memorize surahs in a fun environment. Besides academics the school is contributing in shaping children’s personality and consider mental/Emotional health. My daughter’s teacher is Ms. Kiran who has put a positive influence on students. She’s very patient and humorous with children to make learning environment enjoyable f yet humble and a good listener. The teachers and the principal are receptive to parents feedback and do incorporate it at times where feasible. Alhumdulillah I’m happy with the school and have experience with other Islamic schools too.

Hawa Abdallah El Hadj My son attended the school for 2 years. The first year he was with Miss Nesreen and he made a lot of progress. However this year he made none in English (This was with Ms. Kiran). I personally believe this is due to a number of factors. One is that he was not given a daily reader. She was supposed to send them home on Friday but did not until I pointed it out. I had to ask multiple times. She hadn’t been sending them because a book hadn’t been returned but I told her I will pay you for the book— please just send the readers and I would prefer he gets one a day (because he is behind in reading and needs practice). This did not happen. The other big part is that the class that she teaches has gotten bigger and bigger. She currently has 20 kids spanning 4 grade levels from Kindergarten to 3rd grade. This is a vast age range and there is no way even with the help of 1 TA that she can administer learning for each student on their grade level for a class this big with 4 grades. While multi-age teaching is common in Montessori the most you will see is 3 grades, not 4. And you typically wouldn’t put 2nd and 3rd graders with kindergarteners. Kindergarteners need more help and teachers and so having 1 TA with a class that size and kindergarteners — is ridiculous. Also, administration is hardly there. The teachers essentially run the school. The woman who is the principal left for quite a long time to go to Umrah, and has been sick a lot lately. Sometimes she left Ms. Nesreen in charge of the school— but she’s supposed to be teaching a class— and other times she had her husband come in. Her husband—- is not an administrator. And if he is qualified he’s the worst one I have ever seen. If he answers the phone he says he will leave a message (he doesn’t) or call you back (he won’t). In the end the principal (Ms. Zara) made me some promises — I tried to communicate with her for 4 months regarding my son’s improvement very regularly and even fro the last year and the beginning of this year we have had discussions— but the English teacher didn’t follow through with it. And Ms. Zara is not there often enough to make sure she is doing any of it. I think the teacher doesn’t have enough support, has too many grades, and is overwhelmed. She didn’t even take his book report from Friday. He wasn’t getting his readers. And when I tried to bring it up to her husband (family should not be subbing in for administration spots— this is a school) he tried to put me off and I told him straight to his face the way he treats me is haram, he’s just dumping me. It’s been two years and my son can’t read. They made so many promises but in the end they misused my trust. I placed an Amana on them putting my son in that school but they didn’t follow through.
The Islamic environment is good. The prayer times for the kids are nice. Miss Nesreen is a wonderful teacher, and the science and math teacher too. They work hard and are good with children. Ms. Kiran is also great with kids. But she’s overworked and the administration there is flawed. Last year when they were at Naml and Ms. Zara only had one school to manage it was great. This year …. She doesn’t even know what her teachers are doing. She didn’t know Ms. kiran had a penmanship book. She didn’t know the Qaida teacher was giving candies every day and had a candy system. She just wasnt there enough. They’re all polite. They’ll tell you what you want to hear. But I wouldn’t put my kid in Ms. Kiran’s class with the current situation. There’s no way those kids are learning on the level they need to consistently. Some things in the school really need to be fixed.

Salman Alvi The teachers are the only bright spot here. The staff is highly disorganized and downright rude. We have had the worst experience. If you are looking for an Islamic education for your kids, there are several other options that are better. I would highly discourage any parent from enrolling here. If you provide any constructive feedback on their processes, procedures, or hours, they will essentially terminate the enrollment. The Principal, Ms Fakhra is especially unprofessional. After we brought our concerns, she decided to label us “as not following policies” - which we have never been notified of in writing or in person. I am sure this is exactly the privacy-violating reply they will have.
7 years of childcare for our kids and this is the first time a school has attempted to say this for us. Very shameful of the admin to use such a cheap tactic.

Ash H Don’t send your kids here if you want them to be taught by certified teachers because RES will hire anyone with a degree and zero teaching experience. They will also look the other way when students physically attack teachers because they are terrified of parent lawsuits and will gladly throw their teachers under the bus to save face. This company is a joke.

Jitendra Salcedo My son is in his 3rd year in this school. We drive from Keller 45 min each way, but is so worth it the drive. The academic is top notch and every staff member knows my son’s name. This is not a school where the students are only numbers, the students are been seen by teachers and staff. The principal has done a great job leading this school.
My daughter graduated last year and she is thriving at College because this school gave her a strong foundation. If the kids don’t understand a subject they can always do tutoring. And finally, there is a great communication system between the school and the parents. You received a text and an email so you don’t miss all that is going on in the school.
The kids can graduate with a high school diploma, associate if they choose, and a tech school ( STEM) my son is doing the computer science program and he loves it. We can not ask for better.

Gladys Parke My daughter has been attending since middle school and can honestly say that the teachers at this school care about the students. The curriculum has helped my daughter master the subjects and has helped her become a disciplined student which is a skill that she will utilize throughout adulthood. I have older kids who attended the traditional public schools and this has been a totally different experience.

Aaron Wimberley This is a great school. They offer very innovative options with their programs (flex schedule), curriculum (mastery-based), and CTE courses. It’s definitely not a traditional school, which works great for my daughter. Teachers are caring and are able to give my student the attention she needs because the school isn’t overcrowded.

Steph Soueid Aside from all of the wonderful things LISDOLA does for the elementary school classrooms, they have been an amazing edition to our post secondary programs rotation of work based learning sites. The staff always has work for my young adults to do, that is meaningful and allows them to contribute.
Their walking trails are great too! We always come across interesting wildlife and native plants!
