1 /5 Kesha C.: I’m very disappointed that my 19 year old attempted to attend this church today and felt like she needed to leave before service even started. She has social anxiety and being in large crowds can sometimes trigger a panic attack. She couldn’t find a place to sit and when she did, she was physically tapped and told she needed to move because that section was designated for “special needs”. While her need may not have been physically apparent, I feel a little more grace and compassion should have been shown. Perhaps, guiding her to a section where she would be able to sit rather than making her feel unwelcome. She immediately just got up and left rather than cause herself more stress and embarrassment trying to find a place in such a large crowd where she didn’t know anyone. Being new to this area, that was very disheartening to hear. With the growing disinterest of young people turning AWAY from church, you would think it would be more sensitive to the next generation and attempt to be a place where Christ is felt and make more young people WANT to come. Please be more like Jesus and less like man. A simple seat should not be this deep.
