5 /5 Tudor Teodorescu: Fantastic museum for kids and grown-ups. It has a variety of exhibits that focus on Texas history. It was great to visit after my social studies exam. I liked the tablets that can be used to get more information on certain topics. It allows to get as much or as little as you want while there. I was impressed by the story of the orphanage that was there. Its definitely worth checking out in full. I picked up some silk scarves as souvenirs and they were very good.

5 /5 Jeff Helton: Neat museum of Texas history with amazing artifacts from the Revolution and Republic eras. Also some nice western art. Current display of Texan artist for Hermes who made a scarf I bought my mom in 1985.

Galveston Historic Seaport - Home of the 1877 Tall Ship ELISSA - Galveston

Sarah Miller: This was such a beautifully restored ship! So much history and craftsmanship. The museum was so great too, I had family immigrate from Ireland and come in through Galveston. It was a glimpse into what their journey may have been like. I loved the fact that the ship was built in the Scotland ship yards too as other family members were Scottish as well.

Rockin the RV Life: It is a very small park in the downtown area. Has a photo op with a Welcome to Galveston mural and some covered seating. Good place to take a break while you are shopping along the Strand.

Bishop’s Palace - Galveston

k: This place is really cool to see if you like history, or older houses! The tour is self guided through the basement level, first floor, and second! The gift shop has a ton of things and the sweet ladies who were working were so nice!! We booked tickets online but you can buy them there as well.

Galveston Naval Museum - Galveston

Russel Howes: Interesting place to come and visit. $14 entry per person plus an additional $10 to get into Seawolf park. You can walk around, on and inside both the submarine and ship. Certainly worth visiting if you haven’t been before. About 1.5 hours is another to visit. The park has a fishing peer and various places to picnic and even some grills to use. Was quiet at the weekend but bear in mind it was a hot June day.

Galveston Childrens Museum - Galveston

Alena Odorisio: We brought our 4 year old and we were here for 5 hours no joke ! So many fun things for kids and adults. Not crowded and everyone who was there was very nice. Helpful workers and all engaging activities . We were allowed all day access and were able to get lunch and return

East End Lagoon Nature Preserve - Galveston

Kevin L.T.: About 700 acres with most of that being wetlands. Not much hiking, there is a half mile ada trail which leads through some palm trees and a coastal brush area near the lagoon. Nice interpretative signage along the trail. Its a good area if your looking to fish, kayak, or birdwatch. The access road needs improvement.

Ocean Star Offshore Drilling Rig and Museum - Galveston

Melissa Donaldson: Great museum! Worth seeing. The kids really enjoyed getting to see the ins and outs of the rig. Very informative, reasonably priced. There is a gift shop in the entrance building with items for all ages. The rig is multiple stories with an open concept to explore the permitted areas at your own speed and leisure. Very cool! Highly recommend. The staff was very nice.

Palm Beach At Moody Gardens Water Park - Galveston

Mary Gant: Hanging out at the annual Rosenberg Library Book Club Beach Blast! This water park is very small, and the rides are more for younger kids. If you just want to relax with family or have drinks with friends, this is a good spot.

My wife and I visited on her birthday, primarily to spend time with these adorable creatures, and it was an unforgettable experience. A crucial tip for fellow raccoon enthusiasts: theyre nocturnal! We initially arrived in the morning and only spotted one lone raccoon. However, as the sun began to set, an entire army of raccoons emerged! It was truly a magical sight. These raccoons are incredibly friendly and seem to have a particular fondness for fruit. We had a wonderful time feeding them and observing their playful interactions. In addition to the raccoons, Fort San Jacinto is also home to several friendly cats, adding to the overall charm of the location. You can pet and interact with them as well. If youre an animal lover seeking a unique and heartwarming experience in Galveston, Fort San Jacinto is the perfect destination. Just remember to plan your visit for sunset to witness the full raccoon gathering! Its a truly special place.
