3 /5 Heaven Mireles-Soto: PVC is a Baptist mega-church, which means it’s part of a specific Christian denomination. While most people who attend see it as just a Christian church, it’s worth understanding that it does follow Baptist traditions. The church has a big congregation, and you’ll meet a lot of kind people, but the atmosphere can sometimes feel cliquey. There’s definitely a hierarchy, and it seems like you need to be accepted into certain groups to feel included.
This church also seems very focused on money. They frequently push costly events, ranging from $80 to $180, claiming these will “strengthen” your relationship with God. In my opinion, you shouldn’t have to pay to grow spiritually—teaching and guidance should be freely offered. Another thing to note is that PVC doesn’t appear to have any real structure for charity, which is surprising given its size and resources.
I attended this church for over five years and even volunteered with the children’s group. One thing I noticed is that what they teach children is very different from what’s taught to adults. It’s worth keeping that in mind if you have kids. Overall, this church isn’t bad, but it isn’t entirely honest either. If you’ve had experience with churches before, you might find this one fits your expectations. But if you’re new to faith and looking to build a genuine relationship with God, I wouldn’t recommend PVC. Be aware and use discernment—don’t let spiritual manipulation cloud your judgment.
