Cattail Marsh Scenic Wetlands & Boardwalk - Beaumont (TX)

5 /5 Joeyws 35: Absolutely wonderful hiking and birdwatching. Great view of Heronry with nesting birds. Saw a huge aligator climb out of a pond and walk over a dike to another pond! Did a sunny 10K Step hike over only half of the park in about 2hrs. Best viewing of Purple Gallinule in all of Texas!

5 /5 Sha We: Cattail Marsh is a beautiful park with multiple facilities. There are the gardens, golfing, an equestrian center, pavilions that can be reserved, and the bountiful wetlands. I walked over 3 miles, and that was just one side of the marshlands. Respect the signs because there are gators in those waters. The birds are plentiful and diverse. It is a wonderful way to spend a day.

4 /5 Catsur na: Pleasant and quiet. I saw lots of lesser egrets on the way in. Didnt really see anything other than plants and dragonflies once there though. I really enjoyed going up to the second floor of the pavilion/visitors center and looking out over the whole marsh. Going over the boardwalk into the center of the marsh also gives you a nice view, its just not really pleasant to be in the small center gazebo with another group of people. There are a couple of benches for you to sit and enjoy the view. There are also tour vans that drive around the perimeter, for those who want to see it but not walk it.

5 /5 Emily Spates: Very pretty and if you cant walk it you can drive around and look. It was not too hot for me to get out and walk all the way down the boardwalk today. I cant do much. I think even someone in a wheelchair could go out on this boardwalk and enjoy it.
