2 /5 Cyndi Castro: The love of Christ is not here from our experiences trying to be members for over 1 year. If youre hurting, youll be made well aware that your baggage is unwelcome. If youre a super Christian, youll probably fit right in. We brought our needs and prayers to the leaders on multiple occasions and were told it was our approach, being "too needy", and it was our responsibility to change to be accepted. I guess having your parents die in a car accident, other parents succumb to suicide, and new jobs/city away from your previous fellowship is too much for them to love through and be gentle for a bit of time. We really did try and had to go elsewhere to find loving and compassionate people that did practice what they preached (the general population here is great! Im just talking about the select leaders that were blatantly unloving when we needed Christ to shine through them in our weakness). They are doing some things right, and I know God has the power to use and redeem us all when we fall short. No one will be perfect, so give this place a try! Just sharing our personal experiences, but that is not where God stops :)
Edit: Five years later I read this churchs response to neglecting to care for one of their flock. "I hope you found your place". Pithy. This is a perfect example of the type of attitude you will find here. Not "What can we do to change?" or "Wow, someone is hurting and we somehow failed them - lets give them our personal email to reach out for some prayer!" Simply...."Yes, your understanding was correct, we did not want your baggage, so good riddance on someone else." Their other responses to anyone else who dares to speak out is equally dismissive. This church is in it for themselves, simple. No accountability. No self-reflection. No humbleness. Simply - "Agree with us, or youre wrong" (and we attend a very questions-driven church right now, the furthest from fundamentalism Ive ever experienced, and in that is deep humility that none of us have all the answers but that the basic tenents are to love others and to love them sincerely and wholeheartedly). I am so saddened by the types of responses on this Google review page. I tried to give them benefit of the doubt (see above), but it is clear, this church has a piss-poor attitude in general.
