5 /5 Thomas Hemminger: The Windom Feed Sack is an excellent dining choice for your trek through scenic and nostalgic Northeast Texas. We’ve found that folks from all over the area come here regularly to enjoy a delicious family meal “just like grandma used to make”, as we’ve remarked.
The food is old-fashioned, home-cooking; delicious and on-point. The menu is well-appointed with bbq ribs, fried catfish, chicken-fried steak, peel-and-eat shrimp, and much more. Your favorite side dishes are waiting right on the line for you.
The dessert offerings include delectable soft-serve ice cream, peach or mixed-berry cobbler, a variety of cookies, and on and on.
Antiques and memories decorate the newly-renovated interior of this well-aged town square building that pays respect to its history. The building itself sits catty-corner across the street from the historical municipal bank building, which is also of interest to see.
It is important to note that this wonderful gem of a restaurant was clean, sanitary, and food-safe. These folks obviously take pride in their establishment.
Finally, the owners and employees were so incredibly friendly to us! It absolutely felt as if we stepped into our own “Town of Mayberry”, and everyone was a friend.
We will be back through, even if only to stop here again. Thank you, Windom Feed Sack!
