5 /5 Annie Leon: After our North Pole Flyer ride, we stopped at Junction Cafe in Bertram, TX for lunch, and I’m really glad we did.
We ordered the fried onion rings and fried mushrooms to start. The onion rings honestly tasted like they were made from scratch — super light, crispy breading with sweet onion inside, not greasy at all. The fried mushrooms were hot, crunchy, and full of flavor.
I ordered the chicken fried steak because the menu said it was “world famous,” and now I get it. This wasn’t the usual ground beef patty. It tasted like an actual steak, breaded and fried just right, then covered in their white gravy. It was comforting, flavorful, and just really well done.
My family had the Philly cheesesteak, and it disappeared fast. Lots of steak, plenty of melted cheese, and clearly no skimping. The turkey club was huge and very filling — definitely generous portions across the board.
One thing that really stood out was how generous they are with their food. You’re not leaving hungry. We also had a chance to talk with the wait staff, and they were friendly and welcoming, which always makes the experience better.
Good food, good service, and a great local spot. We’ll be back for sure.
