2 /5 Jessica W: I’ve been to this café a few times since it’s the only breakfast spot in De Leon, and the food has usually been good. But today I was served a spoiled steak. After one bite I had to spit it out—it was extremely sour. The smell was so strong, like garbage, that my husband could smell it across the table. When he picked up the steak to check, he nearly gagged.
I honestly can’t understand how something with such a strong odor ever made it out of the kitchen, let alone onto a skillet. If food smells that bad, it’s clearly unsafe and should never be served. The waitress did apologize and I ordered a different meal, but by then both my husband and I had lost our appetites and we got our meals to go. I’m just hoping I don’t get sick.
I wasn’t charged for the steak, but it was still a very unsettling experience—especially with the bill still coming out to $37.
