Grotto Downtown - Houston (TX)

5 /5 Kent Redding: Had a super good evening at Grotto. Very convenient to Marriott and Convention Center. Excellent food and short ribs were literally the best I have ever had. Mussels were very good in tomato sauce and meatball small plates were perfect size. Our wait staff Keisha was fantastic and truly made the evening 5 star.

5 /5 Victoria S: I really enjoyed my first visit to Grotto. The atmosphere was chill but still alive with a diverse selection of music playing. The staff greeted me with a smile and I was quickly seated and then greeted by Guiseppe who has such a lovely aura. She anticipated my needs, gave me great recommendations, and was quick without missing any details. I had the Chicken Marsala- tender chicken, a rich Marsala wine sauce served with mushrooms. Green beans were delicious and still had a nice firmness to them. The pasta had a yummy light cream sauce. I finished with the STRAWBERRY CASSATA- oh my it is so good and is definitely enough to share! You have to try it. I will definitely be back to more items on the menu. My only suggestion would be for the staff by the entrance to open doors for guest coming in and leaving.

5 /5 Gayathri Iyer: We wanted to try this place and it was good experience to visit this Italian restaurant in downtown Houston. The atmosphere and food were excellent. Very romantic luxury kind of vibe. A very nice place to take your loved one for a special dinner or a date night. We had a wonderful dinner together. For appetizer we tried the rosemary honey focaccia. For dinner my husband has chicken Marsala and I had the Margherita pizza. Food was extremely good. We decided to try desserts and my husband had the Dark chocolate cake and I had the Homemade Bundt cake. I loved both of them. The orange rinds on top of my cake were yummy and cut through the sweetness. We would definitely recommend and definitely be back next time for a visit.

3 /5 CHRISTINE GOMEZ: Went to Dinner with a Friend. The server was Carlos and it was mediocre to say the least. We ordered from the Restaurants Weeks menu including the Bottle of wine. Our Salads came out before the wine and once he took our order he came by a couple times to see how we were but everything we asked for like Bread he gave us push back. He only poured the wine once, when he brought to the table. After that he wasn’t attentive at all. The Manager never even touched our table to see how we were. So the service was lousy. The Clam and Spaghetti was delicious!! But it would have been nice to have bread to get all the delicious liquid left over. The house salad was ok, the vinegar sauce was all red wine vinegar with no seasoning and every time we tried to get salt or parm no one was around. It was a good crowd but it wasn’t slammed in there so I don’t know why the service was so lacking. We were able to make the best of our time there. Not the same Grotto that it used to be. Service is everything

4 /5 Erez Zevulunov: Solid Italian spot. Food was fairly good. Did not try the pizza that looked amazing. Great wine selection. Amazing service. Unfortunately a fire alarm went off during dinner that went on for an hour.
