3 /5 Thomas Brosz: We just live down the street and thought Don Chepes had a limited menu, so we hadnt tried it. Menu is now expanded and is plentiful. I was jonesing for a hamburger and it was pretty good. My wife had the tortilla soup and a bean and cheese taco which were also pretty good. The atmosphere was ok (could lose the TVs for my taste) and everything was trending toward 4 stars, then we received the check and just felt ripped off.
The prices are fine, but they add a surcharge for credit cards and then they "suggest" tips anywhere from 20% to 35%. Honestly, thats the first time Ive seen a suggested tip on a check for 35%. These owners that get advice from the CC companies............theres a reason the CC companies get horrible customer service marks and if you follow their advice, youll get them too.
And then they have the horrible POS system that suggests a tip again along with the wonderful tap to pay system that doesnt work the first time.......I should have just paid cash because, as I mentioned before, theres a surcharge for using your card.
I hate being nickel and dimed, and although we only live 4 blocks away, this will probably be our last time here. Its a shame to lose customers over little ticky-tacky add-ons that you wouldnt have to worry about needing if you just focused on satisfying the customer (which you did with your food) instead of squeezing every penny as they teach in business schools.
