5 /5 Michael Thomas: 11 minutes. That’s how long it took for me to clean that plate, and that alone should tell you something. This is hands down some of the best soul food I’ve had in the area and anywhere around the Austin metro so far. If you haven’t heard of Chef Quis, you’re truly missing out.
Right now they’re serving out of Sound Stage Event Center, with a new official location coming soon, and it’s already clear this is about to be a regular stop for a lot of people. The gumbo was rich, flavorful, and cooked just right, the fried fish had that perfect crunch, and the mac and cheese paired with the yams was a combination I couldn’t put down. I didn’t even make it home before finishing it that’s how good it was.
You can taste the care and consistency in every bite. This is the kind of food you come back for, and it’s absolutely worth what you pay
