The owner was incredibly kind and generous, making us feel truly welcome. The food was delicious, flavorful, fresh, and perfect for sharing. Its a great spot for families, especially with kids. Warm, friendly atmosphere and great service. Highly recommend!

5 /5 Kristopher Palmer: We recently had the pleasure of eating here while in town to lay my moms remains to rest as she was a Gatesville born and raised native.  The food was phenomenal along with the staffs hospitality. Catfish was breaded as my mom wouldve made when I grew up, simply delicious. The brisket was full of flavor and to be frank , it was better than Terry Blacks in Waco that we grabbed on the way back to DFW and way cheaper. We were going to stop by Bare Bones once more on Wed. for another meal, but sadly we missed closing early by 15mins.. Value & Quality was more than acceptable for a family run establishment.

2 /5 Kristi lovejoy: Where to start… The chicken plate was $12. Not a bad price, but was plain as boiled chicken. Not a single spice was tasted on this chicken. It was cooked well though, but not on a grill as there was no smoke ring. Juicy and cooked completely. The sides I ordered were Cole slaw and macaroni and cheese. The Cole slaw is plain. The veg was fresh though. The macaroni and cheese is basically milk and noodles. Although the noodles were cooked perfectly. My companion ordered a kids burger off the kids menu for $10. The hamburger patty was small as it was supposed to be, but the bun was huge and it was swimming in pickles for some reason. There were no sides for the burger even though the cashier said it came with sides and my companion ordered tater tots. And the ice machine was broken so we had to dig in a cooler for ice. Unsanitary. Also the table hadn’t seen a rag since the dinner several times before us and there was dried bean juice on the table. The dining room itself is spacious and homey, but not clean. Owner wasn’t there so couldn’t address the unsatisfactory meal. I do not recommend this restaurant to anybody with a taste for barbecue, as this is mediocre at best.

5 /5 Brian Smith: The best brisket I ever ate! To confirm, there was a raindow over the restaurant to celebrate my satisfaction. Pleasant staff. Decent pricing. I will certainly go back when I stay in the area. Very convenient to North Fort Hood Training Area. Several historic military artifacts are featured in the decor.

3 /5 Lisa Reed: BBQ was pretty good, just dont go late cause the run out of everything. Service was good. Atmosphere was dark and kinda old. The live music was really neat with dancing
