Jokers of Aggieland - College Station (TX)

5 /5 Vic Galante: I saw a picture of the $1 Jokers of Aggieland chip before heading to Texas and knew it would be one of my stops on this years road trip. There were only a few poker rooms in College Station, and upon further inspection it appeared that Jokers of Aggieland was operating at the same location as Texas Ave Social Poker Club. I arrived at 7:30pm to find that Jokers expanded upon the space that Texas Ave occupied by knocking out the adjoining wall to the next unit in the strip mall thereby giving them enough space to add 4 more tables. Several players were on line at the cage to get chips for a game that was just about to start. They collected a $5 membership fee and I purchased $300 worth of chips and was also given a seat number card. That was something new. I asked what happened to Texas Ave and the owner said that the 2 clubs combined earlier in the year and took the name of Jokers. They did not charge an hourly seat fee as Texas Ave had, but rake $5 per pot instead. Youll notice the unique orange $25 chips. They look even better in person. They also use a bomb pot button, but this was a Dealers Choice button. Players could select almost any game. The first time it came into play the player selected 4-Card Crazy Pineapple where players ante $5, are dealt 4 cards, and discard 1 card after the flop and 1 after the turn. You can see the cards being dealt in the picture above. I was dealt AAT8, raised to $30 and got 2 callers. The flop came AK8. I discarded my T, bet $55, and got 1 caller. The turn was an 8, I discarded my 8, bet $75, and got the call. The river was a 7. I moved all-in for my remaining $107. My opponent squirmed for quite a long time before folding pocket kings face up! Good start to my session. This room certainly has the feel of playing a home game in your buddy’s basement poker room. Everyone is friendly, the staff is accommodation, and it has a very casual feel. You’ll be comfortable playing at Jokers of Aggieland. Give it a try.

1 /5 David E: Previously worked here, had a pretty bad experience overall to the point where I stopped advising friends to come and play. Place is completely over raked and the owners are greedy and purposely inflate pots to get it over the rake cap. After leaving in a professional manner without causing any harm or trouble, I find out that they decide to start talking slander on my name around a week after I decided to leave. Theres many cheaper places in town to play with a more welcoming environment (The two other spots), so do a bit more research in finding those better spots.

5 /5 Philippe Muller: New place to play Texas Hold’em and PLO in College Station. Since they opened I have found this place to be very nice to play at. Great tables, dealers and TV’s. Good food and non alcoholic beverages provided for a reasonable door fee. The time fee is comprable to others card clubs in the area. There are grumpy old men that play here but also a college crowd so it’s a fun mix of players.

3 /5 Edward Bourgeois: The place is clean. The personnel on duty were friendly and seemed competent. I drove over an hour, (1 hour 15 minutes per maps) to play holdem. Their website says the spread on Tuesday is a 1/2 holdem table, a 1/3 holdem table, and a 1/2/5 Omaha table. When I got there there was no action. The first table started about 615 or so, it was a combination table, ROE I think its called. I got to sit at the second table, same game(s). Ive never played "pineapple" before. I wonder if I should try to learn from these guys? They seem friendly enough. I can smell a trap. New guy beware.

3 /5 Nicholas Boyer: I tried to go play at this room and apparently they don’t allow new members past 12am because of a security risk…Not sure what that means but that alone had me sorta sketched out. I was driving through on my way to Houston and wanted to play poker with my friend. The owner I guess was the one who greeted me at the door because he called me next day to invite me back and said he would waive my door fee. He seemed friendly enough but there are a lot of places to play in BCS apparently. I went down the road to another club called Central TeXas Holdem Poker Club that was open and walked right in no issues.
