2 /5 Zomorrodian Aubtin (Tino): If you’re an adult looking to train martial arts, or a parent trying to find a program for your kid, skip this place. Once I started training at another martial arts school in Pearland, I realized how much time I had wasted here. In my opinion, this place checks all the boxes for being a McDojo. Flashy branding, high turnover, underpaid instructors, and a focus on squeezing every dollar instead of building a strong martial arts culture. There are much better schools around like Renzo Gracie, Gracie Barra, and Alliance to name a few.
I joined back in 2021 and quickly realized this wasn’t the place to seriously train. I tried to cancel, but they gave me a decent deal, so I kept it as a backup while training at other gyms. It was never my main spot and for good reason.
Over the years, I watched a steady decline. They’ve had some great instructors, but almost all of them left. I’ve personally spoken to many who said they weren’t paid fairly, and the owner took too much from their private lessons. I still haven’t met an instructor who enjoyed working here.
It feels like the owner runs the place with a "save money at all costs" mindset. That shows up everywhere, from underpaying instructors to barely using the AC and letting the gym get uncomfortably hot, especially in the summer.
If you’re just looking to hit bags on your own or use basic gym equipment like treadmills during off-peak hours, and you’re okay with training in a hot gym, then maybe it works. It’s usually pretty empty in the morning or around noon.
I only stayed as long as I did because I had a two-year deal from the previous manager for $299. Once they told me they wouldn’t offer anything like that again, I had no reason to renew.
Bottom line, this isn’t the right place to train martial arts. Spend a little more and start off right. It’s worth it.
