2 /5 Angela Arnold: It pains me to write this review, but I feel it’s important for others to hear about our experience.
We initially hired Jake in April of 2024 to help us with legal remedies against our former homebuilder. We paid him an initial retainer which he said would cover our case.
From April 2024 to February 2025, we still had not been to court nor had our case heard by a judge. A lot of this time was due to waiting period requirements by the State, but certainly not ten months.
Jake did not ever send us any record or receipt of a court filing, temporary restraining order, service, etc. even though we asked him to. He never sent us any invoices or billing record for his services and time worked.
It was very difficult to get ahold of him or get a response from him, and we had to continuously ask for updates and push for action to happen. We asked multiple times if he was too busy to take our case, and he always said he wasn’t.
We engaged a new attorney in February 2025 and have our default judgement hearing set for this month (April 2025).
Jake said he would send the remainder of our retainer (which we did not know the amount of) in February and did not receive it until March 26, after multiple follow-ups.
While filings happened and work was done, it was like pulling teeth to get them and it took much longer than it should have.
We were already in a bad position from our home build case, financially and emotionally, and this experience was like salt in the wound.
