I must say that it didn’t take very long into my tour for my husband and I to decide this was the perfect place for me. I am very nervous and conscience about walking into a gym. Upon entering, the staff was very friendly and welcoming. They very quickly eased my anxiety about being there. The tour was very thorough. Every area of the gym was explained to me in detail. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of each station and the great equipment they have. I was so excited when I left. Also, as we were getting to leave, the owner was walking into the building. We got to meet her and her professionalism and friendliness sealed the deal!

    Jocelyn Ou: Contender truly is the best. I had 7 years of crossfit experience prior to joining Contender and I can confidently say there is no other place like this one. I was a bit hesitant at first about the Level Method programming, but it has turned out to be wonderful. Its a great guide to individualizing workouts to each athletes fitness and skill level, which is a great tool especially for beginners but also welcome for more seasoned athletes. The programming pushes you enough each day to feel like youve worked hard, but also not so intense that you feel like you cant go more than two or three times a week. I love how each month there are assessments at the end where you can "level up", and the programming throughout the month is geared towards reaching that goal (not in an excessive way though). In addition to group classes there are multiple programs offered at all times, including small group classes to work on specific skills as well as lifestyle/diet challenges. And last but certainly not least, the coaches here are genuinely invested in each athletes individual fitness goals, celebrating all wins big and small. I would recommend Contender to anyone!

    Emma Waziri: EDIT: there are only four benches for free weights in the entire gym and so far I’ve always had to wait for a bench to open up, so I really hope they will invest in some more benches soon! The NASCC gym is finally open with the same friendly, helpful staff who had been manning the temporary E Street gym, and the renovations look very nice! I did my best to take pictures of everything but not get anybody working out in the shots for privacy, so just a few areas (mainly the cardio corner) didn’t get included in this review since people were using them the full duration I was there today. Overall it’s great, but in fairness, it is still relatively small for a gym. The new dumbbells only go up to 100lbs, whereas they went higher at the temporary E Street gym. There are by my count only 3 or 4 benches for the free weights which I felt was rather low. (Again, there were more at the E street gym). There are also only two squat racks and 6 treadmills - I definitely wish there were more treadmills. There are 6 stationary bikes, 3 row machines, and 3 ellipticals. It wasn’t too terribly busy today around 11am but it definitely had more visitors than the E Street gym did regularly, while being about the same size and having about the same # of equipment. I imagine many more people will begin coming now that it’s finally open and is an enormous upgrade compared to the temporary gym in the basketball court we had been using, so Im a little worried it’ll end up being very busy for the size but we’ll see! One very happy upgrade was that there are now 2 stair steppers accessible! Yay!

    Kathy Westerman: Highly Recommend! If you’re looking for a gym, give Neptune a shot. I have been a member since they opened. It’s a great environment to get a great workout and meet new friends. The coaches are focused on each individual and will work to customize the workout for your abilities, while they also push you to improve your skills. Love my Neptune family!!!!

    Pam King: I have been working with YPB and Coach Michele for a year and a half and have had great results and have enjoyed my time there. While exercising and participating in the challenges, I have lost over 40 pounds while improving my strength and balance. I have learned how to eat healthy and the indigestion issues I was having are gone. Michele noticed that with my weight loss, I was losing some lean tissue, so we met several times for nutritional coaching. We adjusted my daily macros to include higher protein goal to focus on building lean tissue, while still working on my weight loss goals. During the next month my lean tissue was up while my fat tissue percentage was lower. I truly appreciate the help and encouragement I have received from all the coaches, Lisa, Juan and especially Coach Michele. They are always willing to help me adjust the workout to compensate for my ankle and foot problems. I am 70 years old and feel better than I have in years. Thank you all. Pam King
