OneMain Financial - Tyler Patrick R.: Nice enough staff but pretty deceptive business practices. Ive had a $20k loan with them for a while; I get an offer in the mail to get another loan, pay off the existing one, and have a little left over. Im in a place where I could use that, so I go through the application process.
So after going through the process (and getting dinged with a hard credit inquiry), the website tells me I can get up to $10k unsecured, or $20k secured. Okay, that tracks with what the offer said.
But when I actually talked to them on the phone, they said "oh actually the most we can give you is $1200."
So essentially, I was misled, and let myself get hit with a hard inquiry for no reason.
Edit: 2 months later. I have never heard from the below account. I sent them an email as requested, got an autoreply, and haven’t heard anything since.
