Teny Chen My friend and I got our nails done for her Belize Birthday trip. Tai did my beautiful elegant mermaid nails. Ann did my friends pretty blue tequila nail. They are both so talented, the nail art is immaculate. We also got a nice relaxing pedicure. Our nails held up after 7 days of hiking, cave climbing, horseback riding, swimming, snorkeling, and pole. Not a single jewel fell off, no chips. When I get sad that our trip is over, I just look down at my nails and it brings me joy. 10/10 recommend!!

Libby Jones I have been getting my nails done here for over a year and I keep coming back for a reason! The attention to detail is always wonderful. Ahn does amazing nail art every time! Their 7 day repair policy is also something that you don’t normally see. No need to look further than nail boss for an amazing mani or pedi!

JD Today I visited Nail Boss for the first time and will not be returning again, not only because of the poor quality of work and customer service, but for some reason one of the staff misgendered me by calling me “sir” repeatedly even though I was born a female, have long hair, and a feminine voice. I’ll start first with talking about the service. Lana was the manicurist who did my nails. I asked for coffin shaped nails painted with green cat eye polish. Throughout the service, Lana failed to do my nails exactly how I wanted them and constantly made excuses when I told her. For example, she cut my nail tips shorter on my right hand than my left hand. I asked her if she could extend the length of the nails on my right hand so that it could match my left hand, but she refused and said she would have to make the nails shorter on the left hand in order to have them match. Lana should have made sure that each hand had the same length of nails prior to applying acrylic powder to them. Every nail tech I have been to prior to her always compares each finger prior to applying powder, so I’m not sure why she skipped this step. It wasn’t until her boss came to our table and saw that I was visibly displeased by Lana’s service that Lana finally extended the length of the nails that she made too short. The final product of the nails was absolutely disappointing. I paid $90 just to get a sloppy job which took over 2 hours to complete. You would think with that amount of time, the nails would look better. As you can see in my pictures, the shape is not the same on each nail and barely looks like coffin nails. Lana failed to apply acrylic powder close to the bottom of the nail bed, so my nails already appear as if they are one week old. This is the most horrendous looking full set of nails I have ever received at a nail salon and I was forced to pay $90 for the service. It looks like a third grader did my nails and I am extremely upset that I paid nearly a hundred dollars for such poor quality of nails. Not a single discount or refund was offered, even though I expressed that I did not like my nails and even they know that it looks sloppy. Now I have to wait two weeks with ugly nails in my hands before visiting a salon that actually knows how to do nails. On top of that, one of the other workers on the salon addressed me as “sir” repeatedly when I was trying to look for the sink to wash the acrylic powder off my hands. She kept saying, “Sir! Sir! Sir! The sinks right here!” Unbelievable. Misgendering a woman who was born a female, has long hair, and female body parts is absolutely uncalled for. I wouldn’t be surprised if she did it on purpose just because I was visibly disappointed in the service. I will never return to Nail Boss ever again and will advise others on my personal life to avoid this salon like the plague.

Erin Rosen I can’t say enough good things about Ashley! I make sure to see her anytime I visit La Jolla Cove! She’s so sweet and incredibly talented with nails! I wish I could take her home with me to Chicago! I haven’t found any other nail tech nearly as good as her! Thank you Ashley!!

Keith Fulton Tranie Nails is a great place for a pedicure. We have been going there for several years. We moved from San Diego a few years ago, and when we visit this area, we always go back, their service is outstanding, their friendliness makes their service a joy during our time there. The foot and calf massage after the pedi is a very nice side benefit and they are very nicely done. The price is right and reasonable. I highly recommend Tranie Nails.

Edith Frampton Warning! Dont go here! My daughter received a chemical burn from the lotion used in her pedicure and the technician also cut her toe. Photos are attached. After three days, she still has scabs up and down her calves from the burns. Also, as Margarette F. indicates in another review here, the staff pressures you into purchasing more services than you want. My daughter had received a gift certificate for her wedding. We decided to redeem it with mother-daughter foot massages, which I was told over the phone that they do, since my daughter hates pedicures. However, once we were in the chairs, my technician started saying that we REALLY needed pedicures and that it would only cost a little bit more. She successfully pressured us into this. In the midst of the foot massages, it became clear that these two technicians did not, in fact, know how to give these. Instead of massaging muscles, mine just kept rubbing my calf bone. Far worse, my daughter had to interrupt her "massage" because she was in extreme pain and her legs were covered in a rash. We got out of there as quickly as we could after being told that, in addition to the gift certificate for the massages, we owed $64 for the two foot massages that we had been pressured into, even though they didnt even paint our nails. This is in addition to the $80 gift certificate. We thus paid $144 total for this terrible service. When I called the owner for a refund, she refused.

Sofia Galindo I went there because I wanted to relax after a long week of work. I asked for a gel Mani and a regular pedicure. I got seated pretty fast and the lady that was going to do my pedicure gave me the pedicure menu, I was looking at the different prices when she started talking to me to distract me from choosing the cheapest option. She pointed at number 7 and grabbed the menu from my hand. Then she started insisting to get a gel pedicure. I refused several times but she kept insisting so I yes out of frustration. Then the guy doing my manicure started insisting to get a dip powder. I refused as well but he kept insisting and bringing the powder material. So again, I said yes. I paid 20 extra for the gel and powder that I didn’t want. My nails came up really ugly. But at least my pedicure is cute, even though that I did not get my feet scrubbed because a client came and the lady rushed to finish my pedicure. I would not recommend this place if you want to relax.

Alma Cervantes I was just there. They took of my acrylic and I wanted a regular many. To give my nails a break. The women asked me like 7 times if I wanted gel over and over and I kept saying no. Then after that it seemed like her work was messy. She burned me several time taking off the acrylic. Now my nails are pounding in pain. Then she wanted me to tip her in cash and she got upset. NEVER going back!

ariel pierce This is a week healed. At the salon I felt the sting after she was cleaning up my nails. I told the lady that it hurt and to please not touch it when she was filing and massaging. My thing is, if she knew she did this why didn’t she say anything. It was stinging for like 15 mins. I sat there uncomfortable unsure of the reason why, until the next day I saw the cut. Needless to say I will not be going back here due to that reason & the lack of communication. I also told her I wanted regular polish and she said you don’t want gel to match your manicure? It’s a simple question but I feel like she was trying to get more money out of me. I know the difference, if I wanted gel I would’ve said so
